Malas across the globe

Years ago, I had the vision of women sitting together making our malas - a kind of old fashioned sisterhood built on an ancient spiritual tradition. Now, years later, Kim and her friends who are all stay-at-home moms are making our malas in the small, sweet town of, (can you believe it?), Sistersville, WV!

Across the planet, in the barren Eastern plains of Tibet, Dowa Drolma and her sister-in-laws, also make our malas. These malas are part of our non-profit, Tara Malas, which created a self-sustaining cottage industry for the Nangchen Nuns in Tibet. After being made by Dowa Drolma, the malas are taken by Tashi, who I now refer to as my dear Tibetan son, to the Rinpoche of the nunnery where they are placed in their prayer room for a month to be infused by the prayers and blessings of these nuns who have spent their lives praying for all us. After a month, Tashi mails the blessed malas to me to be sold on their behalf.

What is most amazing is this life that receives our dreams and makes them a reality!
